Sincerity is Irrelevant


Wendy's founder, Dave Thomas, promoted adopting children and spent millions on advertising this. There is no doubt that Mr. Thomas was sincere in this program, as he was adopted himself. But was this good for shareholders?

Yes, it was. Wendy's market is primarily young people who have young children and not much income. That is his clientele. So, this social cause was indeed good for Wendy's business.
